The Rev. Malcolm Frazier is leading a group of 530 Howard University students for their alternative spring break mission trip to New Orleans, beginning this weekend. The theme of the trip is "Unfinished Business." The various work projects will include tutoring/mentoring, landscaping, construction and legal aid projects. Please pray for the students and chaperones' safe journey and for their mission work, as well as for the people of New Orleans who are still being victimized in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

NEW – Registration to annual conference opens: User passwords for the Conference Web site (www.bwcumc.org) were sent out to pastors and lay members to annual conference, March 7. These passwords are necessary to register for the annual conference session. NEW – Change in districts proposed: The Baltimore-Washington Conference is proposing to move from nine to eight districts, an initiative aimed at better allocation of conference resources to help all churches become Acts 2 congregations. The district realignment will give the Conference's four regions roughly an equal number of churches, and allow the districts to determine what would be the best fit for them in terms of needs, geography and shared ministry. The new strategy will also save the Conference approximately $200,000 a year. http://www.bwcumc.org/content/change-districts-approved.
NEW –Web training for committees: There will be a training session for the Web updaters all Conference boards and committees who would like a presence on the new BWC Web site at Howard County Community College, Gateway Campus in Columbia. Training for Web updaters will be Thursday, March 27, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. or Friday, March 28, from noon to 2 p.m. An additional training will be held in June. Serving like Christ: All church liturgical dance groups and drama teams are invited to submit a 10-15 minute DVD clip of their ministry which uplifts the 2008 Baltimore-Washington Conference theme "Serving Like Christ." The Southern region Leadership training will be held tomorrow, Saturday, March 15. The morning session from 9 to 11 a.m., will be at Trinity UMC, 90 Church St., in Prince Frederick. UMCOR in great need of relief "Kits": UMCOR's Sager Brown Depot in Baldwin, La., is in great need of a variety of kits for its global work. Donations are requested for 33,000 layette kits, 64,000 sewing kits and 1.000 bedding kits. These kits are for immediate relief supplies, as well as preparation for future relief efforts. Bishop to lead missionary cruise into History: Bishop John R. Schol will lead a Baltimore-Washington Conference cruise that follows Paul's fourth journey to Greece and Italy in November. The Bishop invites pastors, teachers, church leaders and church members to join him in the travel study program that will enrich their understanding of the Christian faith. The tour will depart from New York by an overnight flight to meet the Orient Queen Cruise ship. The cruise ends Nov. 22, but can be extended with either pre- or post-tours.
